Double Your Deal!

The Fun & Fast Notes stamp set is a great value set. Not only do you have eight cute images, you also have eight sayings. On the set (in the image above) I have carefully cut the rubber images so that the sayings and the pictures are seperate.
Please take care whilst doing this!
The saying is placed on the end of the block and the image on the main part of the block.

Thursday's Tip - Scoring Designer Series Paper

I was talking to Paula Richard, one of my wonderful team yesterday. She suggested that I gave advice on scoring designer series paper (without ripping it!!).

Designer series paper is fabulous not only for decorating your scrapbooking pages and your cards, but is also great for some 3D projects. It is, however, a lighter weight than the cardstock Stampin' Up! sell and therefore needs to be treated a little gentler when it comes to scoring.
Tip: If you are a little heavy handed with the scoring blade on your paper trimmer, then try using a bone folder down the score line instead.

Begin with your bone folder in the groove at the top of the paper trimmer.
Move the bone folder down along the groove putting a firm enough pressure to cause indentation. This should be enough to give a deep enough score without ripping the paper.

Give it a go today. Sign up to my fortnightly newsletter to receive more tips, ideas and 3D project templates.

Happy creating.

Tuesday's Technique - Star Punchies

A few weeks ago I created a cute little box and decorated it with star punchies. I thought that it was about time that I told you how to make them.
I used Stampin' Ups! wonderful Star and Large Star Punches. These are designed to fit over the top of each other.

First, punch the small star (I have used Old Olive card stock).
Next, line up the Large Star and punch straight over the negative image. Tip: Always have the hole of the punch facing you (opposed to the picture side of the punch) then you can position items a lot easier.
The result is a fabulous star punchie that you can use to liven up any Christmas decoration, a wreath, some cards, a table setting, a......................! the list is endless!

Now it's your turn to try. Order your punches now and get started on your decorations early. Phone 09 238 2100 to place an order or e-mail me on donnacalley@xtra.co.nz.

Happy punching!!

If You Can't Buy It Dye It!

Have you had a look at Stampin' Ups! amazing range of ribbons (on page 150-151). They of course co-ordinate with the colour of the inks, card and accessories that we have and the price is very hard to beat.
If there is a colour ribbon that we don't have that you would like, try dying it!

Technique: Take the Stampin' Up! white grosgrain ribbon and the ink colour that you would like. With your hand in a plastic bag rub the ribbon into the ink and allow it to dry. Hey presto! you have the colour of ribbon you need.

Black Baroque

Created by Donna Calley. Images copyright Stampin' Up! 1989-2009

This picture does not do this card justice. I have used the 'En Francais' background stamp (page 109 SU! Ideas Book and Catalogue) in basic black ink. I have then used 'Baroque Motif' in black emboss powder and gold emboss powder on the vellum paper. I have added gold brads to hold the vellum in place.

If you would like to try your hand at embossing join me next Monday (27th July) at 9.30am, 123 Queen Street, Pukekohe or at Stamp Fest (8th August) all day paper crafting event, Havest Church, Papakura. Bookings essential.

Look out for my advance version of this card tomorrow.

Happy stamping.

Wedding Table Setting

Created by Donna Calley. Images copyright Stampin' Up! 1989-2009
This beautiful, but easy table setting is clear embossed with the Baroque Motif stamp set. The Pale Plum card stock is then wrapped around a plastic covered piece of oasis. I have then decorated it with strips of Pale Plum and Old Olive card stock that have been altered with the Eyelet Border Punch (page 152 of the SU! catalogue). It is finished off with Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.
Look on the side bars for up and coming workshops or contact me to host your own workshop.

Pick a Petal Wedding Card

Created by Donna Calley. Images copyright Stampin' Up!

My brother-in-law and his lovely partner Lori are tying the knot today. I chose the En Francais background stamp (page 109, SU! catalogue) and the word cherish from Baroque Motif stamp set (page 94, SU! catalogue), because Lori had used both of those stamp sets for her wedding invitations. I couldn't resist using the black and the gold embossing with Pick a Petal (page 96, SU! catalogue) just to give the card a touch of elegance. It was finished off using SU! black grosgrain ribbon.

On the 27th July I am hosting the Pick a Petal Party, a card class based on the Pick a Petal stamp set. Contact me now to save your place. (Keep your eye on my blog over the next few days to see other cards using the extremely versatile Pick a Petal stamp set)

Happy stamping
